Al's Tools 2
Al's Tools 2
These photos are of the drawer interiors of the Gerstner toolbox that belonged to my friend Al. He worked as a machinist at NCR in Dayton (cash registers) in the 40’s through the 60’s. I am now the caretaker of his memories and wanted to honor him – and all the workers of NCR – with this photo “triptych” (that’s a fancy way of saying all three images “go together”). You can find the other two images down below!
Interesting items to find – and note:
- His Journeyman notebook and ledger
- Oil bottles that were originally from sewing machine kits…
- The buttons for various causes
- The check for the “street light assessment";
- The tools!
- The “War-Time Worker’s Handbook”
- The envelope from the War Department
These photos are a glimpse into the life of someone who made marvelous machines, lived a life of service, and was my friend. If you appreciate history these photos can be yours.
